Our Work /
House Leeukoppie
This project was done in collaboration with Fabian + Make Architects on a home in Kerzner Estate, Hout Bay. The estate is located on the slopes of the mountain in the midst of forest and greenbelt and Make Architects wanted to seamlessly incorporate the building into the landscape.
It was an easy decision to go with the HT50 because of the clean lines and minimalistic look of this model. The simple and refined aesthetic of the zero-thickness countertop, achieved by joining it with the door panel at 40° and 50° respectively, defines this kitchen, imbuing it with a strong contemporary character.
This composition also allows for a variety of configurations including linking the island blocks with a large snack table, allowing us to take the design a step further. The Rhumba bar stools from Wunders worked beautifully at the canapé table, they merge comfort and style resulting in an ergonomic design that keeps kitchen island conversations flowing.
We worked with Granite Projects to create a monolithic, marble frame around the kitchen island. This Arabescato Carrara frame created an undeniable intriguing element in the home by being an architectural, sculptural component on its own.
To further hero the marble, LED lighting was used on the base of the kitchen island in order to illuminate it in its entirety. The remaining joinery finishes were kept subtle in a simple white lacquer while using LED lighting to create an enchanting ambience.
